an excellent neighborhood public school where they can feel confident their child will have access to the opportunities and support they need to learn and grow. Yet too many Ward 5 families look outside their neighborhoods to find the programs, opportunities, or school experiences they want for their children. We need to better understand why families are making those decisions, where gaps in access and opportunity exist, and what students need as they move from elementary through middle and high school. My goal is for Ward 5 families to have excellent public education options close to home at every stage, so students can move from elementary to middle to high school with the academic opportunities, enrichment, and support that help them learn, grow, and prepare for what comes next.
